What is engineering?

Engineering is the application of science and math to solve problems.
Engineers shape the future by applying their skills to almost everything you can think of, from medicine to renewable energy, food technologies to sustainable mining. There really is no limit to what engineers can do.

Engineering is a broad term that covers a wide range of applications and industries. Combining mathematics, science and technology, engineers produce creative solutions to real world problems. As a result there are many different types of engineering degrees available.

There are about 200 types of engineering!
Some of them are-
Aerospace
Aerospace engineers are responsible for the research, design and production of aircraft, spacecraft, aerospace equipment, satellites and missiles.
Agricultural
Agricultural engineers look for solutions to problems involving the use of plants, animals and the natural environment.
Chemical
Chemical engineers apply principles of chemistry, mathematics and physics to the design and operation of industrial equipment and methods for the manufacture of chemical products.

Civil
Civil engineering is one of the oldest types of engineering. It involves the design, construction and management of municipal infrastructure, highways, railways, transit systems, airports, harbours, bridges, tunnels and buildings.
Communications
Communications engineers plan, analyze, design, implement, operate, test, maintain and manage communications systems and networks. They play a key role in the ongoing development of the Internet and associated technologies.
Computer
Engineers who specialize in electronic systems are concerned with the design, analysis and manufacture of electronic circuits and devices.

Electrical
Electrical engineers are involved in the generation, production, transmission, distribution and application of electrical energy: the electricity that lights our homes, helps us cook our food, and powers our machinery.
Electronic Systems
Engineers who specialize in electronic systems are concerned with the design, analysis and manufacture of electronic circuits and devices.
Mechanical
Mechanical engineers use the principles of mathematics, material science, physics and economics to design, manufacture and maintain mechanical equipment. Our household appliances, ventilation systems, cars, ships and airplanes have been designed, tested and manufactured by mechanical engineers.

Metallurgical
Metallurgical engineers study the properties and characteristics of metals and other materials.
Albert Einstein, one of the world's greatest scientists, hit the nail right on the head when he pondered the question 'what is engineering?'.
“Scientists investigate that which already is;
Engineer creates that which has never been”
